It's getting colder - are we ready for winter?

My thick duvet has come down from the loft and the heating has gone on for the first time since last winter – it must be official that summer is over. Last winter I saw more snow in Sussex than I can recall in my lifetime. So are we ready if it happens again?

Will this winter be as chilly as the last?
For those who have driven down Cants Lane off Junction Road recently, you’ll realise that there’s a shiny new smooth road surface – it’s taken a few months to get there after several potholes but we’re there! Hoorah!
The question is; if the winter weather offers a repeat performance of last winter this time round – do we have enough grit? Will our schools cope and manage to stay open? Will our road surfaces be tough enough to survive? And will our public transport systems be offering services?
If you want help with keeping warm in the colder weather, have a look at information on heating and plumbing here. You can also keep up-to-date with the latest local weather forecast on this site. It’s expected to be another chilly start in the morning so the car may need a bit of warming up first thing.
What are Burgess Hill people hoping for? A snowy winter for the romance of it all or anything but thanks to the chaos last time?
