How are Southern trains running?

Has anyone ventured out on a brave Southern Railway journey this weekend? If so, how did you get on? For those due to commute to work tomorrow you're probably keen to know how the trains are running...

The railway at Wivelsfield during the snow period at the start of December 2010
Burgesshillpeople took a look at the Southern Railway webpage and felt encouraged by the message stating 'We intend to run the advertised service today, Sunday 19 December
although due to the weather conditions, there may be some short notice
cancellations. We will in some cases run longer trains than normal to
provide extra capacity.'
However, take a look at the live running page and there is a stream of revised and cancelled services. Recently, the 10.34am train from Brighton to London Victoria was revised (i.e. didn't stop at Gatwick, East Croydon, Clapham or Victoria and stopped at Haywards Heath instead), the 12.02 from London Victoria to Brighton has been cancelled, the 09.14 from Ore to London Victoria was revised and the 11.59am train from Epsom to London Victoria was cancelled. This is to name but a few of the journey disruptions...
So, fingers crossed services will improve for tomorrow. Do you think train service disruptions should be expected and are inevitable in snow? Or is our railway system lagging behind European neighbours? Is the third rail getting in the way in icy conditions and do we perhaps need to revise our rail system if cold winters are to continue?
