Matthew Cornish prepares for his half marathon commute
ready for the London Marathon in April.
Matthew Cornish, a corporate fundraiser from St Catherine’s Hospice, will
be leaving the car behind as he runs home from his work at the hospice in Crawley on Monday 31st January - a journey of 13 miles.
Matthew says, “I’ve been training since last autumn, but the idea to do the
half marathon commute came from talking to previous competitors that the
hospice events team put me in touch with, as well as supporters on my twitter
page @mathcornish.
“Running the London marathon is something I’ve always wanted
to do. I’ve set myself a target of raising £2,000 and as I work at St
Catherine’s, it’s a cause that’s especially close to my heart.
“My wife and family have been really supportive as it’s not always easy
to fit in running with two children under four at home, but I hope I can make
them proud by completing the distance.”
Colleague and Events Organiser at St Catherine’s Hospice Jen Wickham
says, “We’re really looking forward to cheering Matthew over the finish line on
the day. If you’ve been spurred on by his story and would like to run in this
year’s Brighton marathon, we still have some spaces
available. And if you are running a marathon this year and want to help us
reach our target of £75,000 in funds for vital end of life care across Mid
Sussex, we’d love to hear from you. ”
