It was another bumper year for the students of Burgess Hill. Success was stunning at the fee-paying Burgess Hill School for Girls which recorded an overall pass rate of 100 per cent overall pass rate in GCSEs – a rate that surpassed all previous records.

Burgess Hill exam success
The school has an impressive alumni that includes Holly Willoughby and Greta Saatchi and its motto: ‘I am, I can, I will’ (or ‘Sum, Possum, Deboe, Efficam’ in Latin for those more learned than I) was proved true by its exam results.
Students and staff at St Paul’s Catholic College were also celebrating the highest ever GCSE results achieved at the College. Pupils at the College exceeded their aspirational target by 7 per cent with results of 97 per cent in the A*-C range, with 87 per cent achieving those grades in the fields of English and Maths. Those results place them within the top 10 per cent of schools nationally.
Rob Carter, Headteacher at the College, said “We are over the moon with these outstanding results which are better than any we have previously achieved at St Paul’s. This is all down to the hard work and commitment of the students and the unrelenting support and dedication of the staff at the College.”
As Maise28 pointed out on this forum Oakmeeds got best ever GCSE results for their college. Check out the careers advice article on the right if you need a bit of guidance after the release of the results on Tuesday. It is a Community College that faces being merged with Court Meadow school in Cuckfield and Newick House school in Burgess Hill to form a foundation special school next to Oakmeeds. There is some support to this move but it still faces hurdles.
Results can also be found on this site by way of performance tables (for primary schools), where you can see how pupils are faring up.
And after last week’s fest of pictures of pretty young things (mostly female – the pictures that is) celebrating their A-Level results it is worth noting that careers advice is also available at the Information Shop for Young People on Church Road.
So all-in-all it was a good year for our local schools, though there was no comment on the school meals provided to feed those brainy brains.
Is there a pupil that you feel has done especially well? Let us know…
