It is soon the season 'to be jolly' and not paying so much to park in town will surely help?! Mid Sussex District Council has reduced all day parking rates in the long-stay car parks at Queens Crescent and Station Road for the three Saturdays leading up to Christmas. The price will be a day rate of just £1.

The idea is that this will help support local businesses and residents in the run up to Christmas. In addition to this Saturday reduction, there will be no charge for parking during the weekends of Sat 25th December - Tues 28th December inclusive and Saturday 1st January-3rd January 2011 (inclusive).

As always, parking in the council car parks is free on Sundays and bank holidays.

So what do you fell about this helping hand from the council? Does it go far enough to support businesses and residents in tough economic times? Do you think it will persuade more people to shop in Burgess Hill?
