Plans for Community Toilet Scheme in Burgess Hill

Mid Sussex District Council is looking to increase the number of clean, safe and accessible toilets in Burgess Hill, as well as Haywards Heath and East Grinstead, by encouraging local shops and businesses to offer their 'facilities' to the public.

Community Toilet Scheme could be on it's way to Burgess Hill
What will the businesses get in return? A small annual payment will be made to them by the Council towards the provision of the service. Perhaps it may also bring extra potential customers through their doors and give them the seal of 'community approval'?
The idea is that toilet facilities will be available during business opening hours and there will be no cost to members of the public, or any obligation on their part to make a purchase. Display stickers and signage will be used to make the public aware of toilet facilities that businesses have made available as part of the scheme.
If you run a local business and are keen to express an interest in sharing 'facilities', the closing date to do so is 30th November. You can contact the Council on 01444 477305.
So, what do you think of the Community Toilet Scheme? Would it make shopping that bit better knowing there are plenty of clean, safe and accessible toilets about? Is there enough incentive for businesses to take part? And do you think the public toilets we have already are below par or more than adequate?

This really is a **** idea :-)
The Council should be providing decently maintained public conveniences in the first place. A Council should not be interfering with how a business is run. Businesses just want to be left alone to run their businesses, If the Council really want to help businesses, a cut in business rates and red tape would be a good place to start.
