For many people in Burgess Hill finances are tight in these tough economic times and the prospect of Christmas shopping is daunting enough before even thinking about parking costs. So you may be pleased to hear that parking in Mid Sussex District Council long-stay car parks in Burgess Hill is being reduced to £1 for the whole day on the four Saturdays leading up to Christmas.

Save money parking in Burgess Hill this Christmas
So, where can you park for just £1 for the day? Queens Crescent and Station Road car parks. Parking will remain free on a Sunday.
Mid Sussex District Council have announced that they are reducing parking costs, as they did last Christmas too, to help support both local businesses and residents.
"In these tough times, I do hope that we'll all be doing our best to
shop locally and I know our retailers are working hard on their
Christmas offer," said Councillor John De Mierre, Cabinet Member for
Economic Development on the Mid Sussex District Council website. "We're pleased to add our support through these
discounted parking offers."
So will it be enough for you to do your Christmas shopping locally? If not, what would persuade you to buy your gifts in Burgess Hill?
Comments
A small step in the right direction I suppose. A few observations if I may:
1. Why are only 2 out of the 5 MSDC car parks involved in this?
2. What about the more convenient Martlets multi storey, Cyprus Road, and Church Road MSDC car parks?
3. Given that most people probably spend say up to a couple of hours shopping for which the normal cost of parking is £1, is this really such a generous discount after all?
4. Given the desperate times our retailers are currently facing, would it not be more attractive and beneficial to them and to shoppers to simply make the parking free in the run up to Christmas?
