EAST Grinstead U14s started the new year on a winning note with a 53-0 landslide win at Burgess Hill.

They simply blew away the opposition, using the slope to their advantage in the first half.

The pack secured the ball early on, allowing Tancock to drive through the defence and off load to Carr on the outside.

Gs kept up the intensity and soon scored again this time Tancock taking it over after good work from Robinson and Waite.

This time the try was converted and the Gs had a 14 point lead, but it came at a cost when they lost Tingley with a suspected broken arm.

Hill started to come back into the game and but for some good defensive tackles from Baston and Nicholls could have scored in the corner. But they were stopped firmly in their tracks and the ball was turned over which allowed the backs to secure the ball and play some great running rugby with Taylor this time finding the opening to score under the posts.

Gs scored another two tries before half-time with De La Haye and Tancock getting his second, Carr and DLH shared the kicking responsibilities to heap the pressure on to the hosts.

Jardim secured the loose ball after the break, it was fed down the line to Hall who unloaded to Jamie Patterson who burst through to score his first try for for the club.

Gs now had a firm control on the game and were winning the lineout's without fail and then used their physical power to maul their way up the hill.

This led to Dan Coen going over in the corner for their seventh try.

Gs scored two further tries when Longford charged through the Hill defence and superbly off loaded to Brown for him to score.

Gs finished the day with some good work by Halliwell and Lord which led to DLH going over for his second of the day and he then converted his own score to finish the game off.

Grinstead: Nicholls, Baston, Jardim, Tingley, Delahaye, Brown, Patterson, Longford, Robinson, Waite, Taylor, Tancock, Hall, Lord, Halliwell, Coen.
