If you've ever thought it would be helpful to receive updates on weather and gritting activity in Burgess Hill, and West Sussex in general, Gritter Twitter may just be what you're looking for... @WSCCGritting is the one to follow!

The Gritter Twitter service has been set up by Balfour Beatty who manage the maintenance of highways for West Sussex County Council. They will 'tweet' updates on weather, road conditions and gritting activity. Hopefully, this will lead to better route choices and ultimately smoother, safer journeys.

So far, @WSCCGritting have 115 following them and they've already tweeted 69 times. I'm sure their followers will multiply as we head for colder weather.

So, if you're new to Twitter and would like the updates, register with Twitter at www.twitter.com and then search and follow @wsccgritting.

That sounds like a really good idea - wonder when we will get some snow?
