The Cherry Tree Centre on Fairfield Road in Burgess Hill provides activities and services for people over 50 years. The activities are wide ranging and include, amongst other activities, Tai Chi, singing and computer classes. Sadly, the centre had suffered from repeated attacks by thieves in the past month.

Criminal activity has included the stealing of lead from the roof which has resulted in leaks. The mini-bus for the centre has also had it's exhaust system removed and laptops and computer equipment has been stolen from the new IT suite.

It is estimated that the thefts will cost the centre an estimated £3,000 in total. It seems sad that a charity for older people is being targeted in this way. Let's hope it stops now and the thieves are found.

What dreadful news, it's such a shame and so hard for charities to raise money at the moment, which makes it even harder to replace the items stolen.
