The route for the London 2012 Olympic torch has been chosen and Burgess Hill is not on the map. Starting on 19th May 2012 at Land's End, the torch will visit 1018 destinations during a 70 day journey. Although the torch won't be passing through Burgess Hill itself, there will be opportunity to see it pass through nearby towns including Lewes, East Grinstead, Crawley and the city of Brighton and Hove.

Burgess Hill is not on the Olympic torch route for the London 2012 Olympics
The torch will travel clockwise around Britain, carried by chosen individuals with 'inspiring stories'.Not the whole route will be covered by foot and there has been some controversy around how much of the journey will be covered by car, particularly as we grow increasingly aware of our carbon footprint.
So where could you see it pass through locally? The torch will be going from Brighton and Hove to Crawley, then Copthorne, Felbridge and East Grinstead, before moving on to Tunbridge Wells, Crowborough, Lewes and then Eastbourne.
So, why do you think Burgess Hill has been missed off the route? What do you think was the reasoning behind the chosen towns?

Shame it isn't coming through Burgess Hill, but amazing that 95 per cent of the population will be within 10 miles of it at some point!
