Mid Sussex District Council is warning residents in the local area of a telephone scam where callers are pretending to be from Mid Sussex District Council and then asking residents for bank details.

The council states that whilst they do sometimes need to ask residents for bank details this is only ever when the resident has called the council. The council would never telephone a resident to ask for bank details.

You can read more about how to protect yourself from fraud on the council website here. If you do become a victim of fraud, you are advised to contact the non-emergency police telephone line on 0845 60 70 999.
